I get that it helps them lower the price, however, which should help us sell more of them. I'd be glad to let you know what I think of the Summit vs my WSM after I've had a chance to use it a bit, but I can tell you, the charcoal igniter was a big selling point for me and I'm disappointed they dropped it for the E6. He's getting rid of the Masterbuilt because he loves the Summit so much. He just bought a demo Summit from our rep last week and has been using it since. We're also a Traeger and Masterbuilt dealer and my brother owns a 22" Weber kettle and the larger Masterbuit Gravity Series. I also own a 22" WSM and just today, my rep sold me a demo Summit that I haven't taken out to my deck yet. I'm a Weber dealer and personally own two kettles, basic 18" and a 22" Master Touch. It's just a small space.Įventually, I'll definitely be going back to having a regular kettle and a dedicated smoker. I think even without the leaks, it will still be a more smoldery type of fire. It's not a problem with most bbq except skin on poultry. I end up having to close down the vents to barely a fraction and it can make for a smoldery fire. The temp is forever slowly climbing and rarely settles in. But as it is right now, mine is really tricky to get a long, slow cook in. Mine is leaky so, once I get around to adding some custom gasketing, it should improve. It's a good smoker but it's a lot more finicky than my WSM. The Summit, and I assume the E6 would be very similar, is great for high heat grilling. Vs my summit, I'd say it uses easily twice as much for the same cook time. The downside is that it uses a good bit of charcoal. It holds temperatures for long periods of time with little to no intervention needed. If you only want a smoker, in my opinion, the WSM is a better smoker. I used to have my kettle and WSM side by side and wanted to save some space with a single cooker. I've had the WSM for many years and got the Summit about 6 months ago. I have both a WSM and a first version Summit Charcoal.
